Established in 1982 with only a handful of students, the school has continued in its purpose to provide a healthy environment for young men considering the vocation to the Catholic priesthood. While some students continue on to a major seminary after graduation, many students do not feel it is their calling. There is a 90% college placement rate. Students come from throughout the United States and from several countries around the world including Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, France, Germany, South Korea, and South Africa.
The school's academic program follows a classical liberal arts model balanced with additional courses in math and science. The Latin and Greek program, in particular, encourages all students to be able to read Virgil's Aeneid in the original Latin and be able to translate the Gospel of John from the original Greek by senior year. The mathematics program begins with pre-algebra and extends to Trigonometry and Calculus with emphasis in theory rather than application. The curriculum also includes cultural studies, and students are required to take a modern foreign language.
Students are highly encouraged to cultivate both healthy and virtuous lives. The Holy Mass, Rosary, Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament, morning prayer, and night prayer are part of the daily schedule.
Athletic activities are numerous and include basketball, soccer, hockey, flag football, and baseball. Outdoor activities are also provided such as hiking expeditions in the White Mountains and seasonal opportunities for swimming, skiing, and sledding.
